Sapa tours to learn some of the Hmong customs

“Trekking Sapa is very different from most of the tours operated in Sapa. They are one of the few operators who exclusively use Hmong guides and therefore support the local community more effectively than many operators who use non-local Vietnamese instead.

Before starting our trek My gave us a quick 20 min chat about the history of the tribe and the local area as well as some of the initiatives that TrekkingSapa are working on to help improve the life of the Hmong people. We found this really interesting and it really brought the tour to life.

Overall, this tour was probably the highlight of our time in Vietnam. It is one of the few things we did that felt like it wasn’t negatively affecting the local community or environment – and it was incredibly good fun, even in the rain!”

The custom of Hmong people

If anyone first come to Cat Cat Village, many people do not know that there is a special custom that is pulling his wife. When a boy acquainted and fell in love with a girl, he will organize a party to invite his friends and ask you to plan to “pull” the girl unexpectedly, holding her for three days. Then, if the girl agrees to be the wife of the boys then will conduct the official wedding ceremony. If she refuses, they drink a glass of wine together and everything goes back to normal as if nothing had happened. H’mong wedding in Cat Cat is usually held from 2 to 7 days.
